Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Lead Mammography Tech manages the day-to-day operations of the mammography department by establishing practices and procedures as well as standardizing operations. They manage the accreditation of the hospital, equipment, technologist, and services under the MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program) guidelines. They are responsible for related equipment, supply inventory, patient education and the continuum of patients care before, during, and after procedures.
Essential Job Functions
•Coordinates all operations related to mammography services (e.g., scheduling service, safety, patient care, and equipment maintenance).
•Safely and proficiently performs all mammographic/ and related procedures and imaging.
•Oversees MQSA inspections, ACR (American College of Radiology) accreditations, Quality Control Program, Physicist Surveys, Equipment Maintenance, Technologist Certifications and education, and Policies and Procedures.
•Maintains proper staffing levels to meet workflow requirements; assists staff technologists with maintaining appropriate absenteeism and tardiness record.
•Supervises Mammography Technologists and students.
•Coordinates and implements components related to breast health care needs (e.g., BSE (breast self-examination) instructions, patient education, and patient grants and payment assistance).
•Provides excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.

Licensing/Certification
Certification and Registration in Mammography, ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required) State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)
Education
Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)
Work Experience
Two years' experience as a registered mammography technologist (required)
Two years' experience as a lead radiologic technologist (preferred)
Training
EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)
Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)
