Position Summary
The System Plant Operations Manager oversees plant operations and facility maintenance, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to standards. Reporting to the Director of Non-Clinical Operations, the Manager coordinates vendor activities, manages maintenance contracts, and drives continuous improvement in quality and productivity. They recruit and evaluate team members, provide guidance across shifts, and promote a culture of safety and professionalism. This role requires effective communication with patients, families, staff, and leadership while upholding the values and mission of UNC Health Appalachian. The Manager adheres to policies and regulations, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.

Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation is $115,000 annual salary range.

Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is ______/hour or more (depending on education & experience). Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in healthcare management or engineering is preferred.

Experience
5 years of experience in a hospital setting.
3 years of progressively responsible experience in conjunction with 5 years of experience in plant operations required.
1 year of prior experience in a similar role with a similar scope is preferred.

Required Registration/License/Certification
Licensure not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills
Competent in delivering safe and effective care within legal limits of license and certifications and hospital policies and procedures
Knowledge of the continuum of care provided in the patient care department.
Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians
