Shift: 4p-4am
Responsibilities:
Assist the veterinary team in providing compassionate and efficient care to emergency patients. This includes assisting with patient restraint, obtaining vital signs, and providing comfort measures.
Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and medications required for emergency procedures and treatments.
Maintain a clean and organized emergency treatment area, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, changing bedding, and restocking supplies.
Assist with diagnostic procedures, such as radiography, laboratory tests, and sample collection, under the guidance of the veterinary team.
Aid the veterinary team in administering treatments, medications, and intravenous fluids as directed.
Accurately and promptly document patient information, treatments, and observations in medical records.
Provide courteous and empathetic communication to pet owners, answering general inquiries, relaying messages, and providing updates on patient care as directed by the veterinary team.
Support other departments or areas of the hospital as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the veterinary facility.
Qualifications:
Experience working in a veterinary emergency, ICU, or critical care setting, preffered.
Strong understanding of veterinary emergency procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with the veterinary team and pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner.
Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance to patients in distress.
Strong observational skills and attention to detail to accurately report patient behavior and condition to the veterinary team.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the workday
The ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without accommodation
