Job Description:

High Lakes Health Care, part of Praxis Health, is looking for a friendly and energetic Gynecology Medical Assistant with outstanding people skills to join our team.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday

We are looking for someone who is a quick learner, motivated to learn new procedures and skillsets, this is a very fast paced and quick turnaround environment.

Experience with electronic medical records is a plus

Essential Job Functions

Medical Assistant - 1
1. Attends work regularly and on time.
2. Maintains a reputation for effective interpersonal relations with team, supervisors, and patients.
3. Rooms patients within 4-6 minutes and ensures their comfort and satisfaction while making sure that provider is timely with starting patient visits.
4. Effectively communicates with the care team to ensure the flow of the patient care is successful.
5. Captures and accurately documents full vitals (Blood pressure, temperature, weight, height, O2, pulse)
6. Reviews medications/allergies - verifies patient is taking all medications listed - state medication name, dosage, and frequency. Thoroughly updates the medication list with any reconciliation needed. Verify all allergies listed are accurate and no new allergies.
7. Performs Intake Function - press intake button, verify you are in-taking today's date.
8. Captures patient's chief complaint and enters into electronic health records (EHR) system.
9. Provides applicable informational forms to patients as result of chart preparation routine.
10. Assists with patient discharge - provides after visit summary.
11. Completes room turnover process (including, but not limited to cleaning-re-stocking).
12. Stocks examination rooms/notifies supply personnel when items are low.
13. Completes "tasks" and phone calls daily with guidance from supervisor or ACA.
14. Performs EKG, injections, vaccines under supervision.
15. Completes other tasks as directed by supervisor or ACA.

Medical Assistant - 2
1. Proficiently and independently completes all MA I essential job functions.
2. Assists provider with minor medical procedures. (Sterile setup, take-down, auto-claving)
3. Completes chart prep based upon provider schedules, including but not limited to pulling Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), getting consents ready.
4. Independently performs EKG, injections, vaccines.
5. Makes increasingly more complex phone calls that require skilled communication and decision-making skills.
6. Under supervision the MA III may order and perform CLIA waived tests.
7. Completes other tasks as directed by supervisor or ACA.

Medical Assistant - 3
1. Proficiently completes all MA I & II essential job functions and competencies.
2. Independently performs EKGs, Injections, Vaccines, Ear irrigations, CLIA Waived tests (UA, Strep, Flu, COVID, HCG), PKU, Hemocue, lab draws and teaches others the skills to perform these tasks.
3. Independently performs controlled medication tasks.
4. Trains MAs.
5. Completes special projects that help support the overall improvement of Praxis Health.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Medical Assisting diploma from an accredited vocational institution, a community college program in medical assisting preferred.
Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty departments; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.
Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office preferred.
Experience with Electrocardiogram (EKG), taking vital signs, venipuncture, capillary and giving injections.
Previous GYN experience with IUD insertion setup, Colposcopies, and uterine biopsies preferred.

Other Requirements

Current CPR certification preferred
Must possess current health records with the appropriate immunization to work in the health care field (Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis).

General Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, crawl, bend and twist as needed. Requires walking on non-level surfaces, inside and outside the office, throughout the day.
Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.

OSHA Category
This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
