Position Summary: The Cath. Lab Tech performs all routine diagnostic and emergent therapeutic angiographic or catheterization procedures. Assures equipment is functioning properly. Produces and evaluates data, information and images used by the physician in the performance of the procedure. Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patient's vital signs, interpreting status information and performing functioning in one or more of the following: monitor, scrub, or circulating technologist. Educates patients, family members and cath team. Stocks inventory and all other duties as assigned.
Qualification
Must be within a 45-minute drive from Tidelands Health Hospital for On Call requirements.
Experience: Minimum two-year Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech. Experience (including clinical time). Experience with physiological monitoring systems, sterile scrub technique, interventional and diagnostic heart catheterizations and pacemaker implantations.
Education: Graduate of a program of study leading to credentials as CVT, RCIS, RN, RRT, RT(R), RVT with current national registry in applicable discipline, and eligible for certification by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA), application under "invasive specialist
Special Skills: RCIS required or meet qualifications for certification as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) after appropriate procedures performed
Other:
American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the GHS Staff Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the GHS Staff Development Office are approved by Staff development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two years.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
