The Woodlands is a 27,000 acre master planned community founded in 1974, located 28 miles north of downtown Houston. 

In the 1980 census The Woodlands had a little over 8,400 residents; since that time it has experienced unparalleled growth. Currently the population of The Woodlands is estimated to be over 90,000 residents.
