Good Samaritan (Good Sam) Hospital: acute care 429-bed hospital serving San Jose, Silicon Valley and surrounding counties in two locations: main campus in San Jose and Mission Oaks campus in Los Gatos. Good Samaritan provides tertiary services including cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, advanced obstetrics/gynecology, in-patient and outpatient psychiatric services, in-patient rehabilitation, JCAHO-certified Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, behavioral health and specialized surgery. Outpatient services include same day surgery, diagnostic imaging, cardiology, clinical laboratory, radiation oncology and the BreastCare Center. Readers of Bay Area Parent magazine chose Good Sam as "Bay Area's Best Place to Have a Baby" and "Family Favorite Hospital" for 10 consecutive years. Acute Rehabilitation Program is the only Silicon Valley hospital with a CARF accreditation specifically for stroke. Good Samaritan was again the only northern Calif. hospital to receive Outstanding Achievement Award from American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, 2008. Accreditation as Chest Pain Center for superior performance in emergency response, cath lab and cardiovascular surgery.

Technology. Interventional Neuro-Radiology in new biplane angiography suite; dedicated Oncology Unit with Palliative Care Program and Radiation Oncology center with latest targeted radiation equipment to improve accuracy, reduce treatment time and minimize damage to surrounding tissue, supported by new CT simulator and new linear accelerator. Diagnostic imaging: MRI with Excite software which improves imaging, speed and accuracy, enhancing emergency care and decreasing out-patient wait times. New 3.0 Tesla MRI. Combined PET/CT offers patients a single procedure and gives physicians earlier detection and diagnosis, more accurate staging and more precise treatment of oncology patients. A 64-slice CT gives Good Sam tremendous speed in emergencies and significantly expanded capacities for brain, cardiac and GI studies.
