Founded in 1971 as Coliseum Park Hospital by Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Coliseum Medical Centers has grown to be a leader in healthcare for Middle Georgians. Coliseum is a 258 bed facility with 115 active physicians representing all major specialties. In 1973, the obstetric and nursery unit was added to Coliseum and to date over 30,000 babies have started their lives within the Family Ties Birthing Center. Coliseum has been at the forefront of medical technology by being the first hospital to provide cutting-edge diagnostics, surgical procedures and treatments. The hospital operates a Level II 13-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and in June 2000 began performing Open-Heart Surgeries.
Established in 1984, Macon Northside Hospital is Macon’s newest facility. The beautifully landscaped hospital campus is nestled among the Georgia pines between Forsyth and Forest Hills Road in North Macon. Macon Northside is a Medical-Surgical facility with an Emergency Department located on the hospital campus. Macon Northside offers an attractive separate Endoscopy Center with today's most sophisticated equipment and technology for endoscopy, broncoscopy and gastro procedures. Being a smaller neighborhood facility, Macon Northside Hospital has 103 beds and 48 active physicians. The facility has adjacent physician offices that include such specialties as Dermatology, Family Practice, General Surgery, Internal Medicine and Neurosurgery.
Both facilities make up Coliseum Health System and offer the Macon community not only a choice in where to get medical services, but also a multitude of providers to use.
