Citizens Medical Center is a 344-bed acute care hospital providing Victoria & South Texas with the technology and medical sophistication of a big city and the personal care of a small town. We also offer a state-of-the-art fitness and rehabilitation facilities, and two family medicine clinics. Since 1956, this progressive, major Medical Center has helped Victoria earn the reputation as one of the best places to live in America for quality health care. With over 1,300 employees, Citizens plays a major role in the rapidly growing South Texas economy.

As a not-for-profit, community-owned hospital, Citizens financial resources stay in the community, and are reinvested in the hospital, its technology and its people.

Located conveniently in the “Crossroads", the City of Victoria has a population of around 85,000. Citizens Medical Center's service area includes the surrounding counties, with a referral population of 140,000.

The medical staff consists of 210 physicians representing 34 medical specialties. The Medical Center's commitment to quality was recognized in 2005 by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations with a three year accreditation award with a Gold Seal of Approval.

About Victoria, Texas

Victoria, Texas, known as the South Texas Crossroads, is one of the oldest cities in Texas. Highway 77, 87 and 59 (the future I-69) all intersect in Victoria. With a population of nearing 90,000 and a retail trade area of over 250,000, Victoria is a cultural, historic and economic hub for the surrounding seven counties.

About the schools

Victoria Independent School District has led the way in developing curriculum that goes beyond basic academics. The business community has joined school personnel in helping to develop local standards in addition to national and state standards. The District carefully researches, evaluates and fine-tunes each program in a process that has gained state and national recognition. Courses of study at VISD magnet school campuses are enhanced through advanced technology, in-depth experiences, and field learning activities that are designed to nurture every child’s imagination and celebrate cultural and ethnic diversity. A career and technology center offers vocational training in 12 areas including electronics, building trades, computer networking, cosmetology, and Process Operation Technology for petrochemical plants.

 
Victoria’s private schools offer young men and women the opportunity to excel in academics, athletics and fine arts in a nurturing, Christian atmosphere. Advanced Placement courses augment traditional academic and honors courses.   State-of-the art technology, complemented by extracurricular activities, offer unique opportunities for personal, physical, social and spiritual development.
 
More than 60 colleges and universities are located within a 125-mile radius of Victoria including the University of Texas, Texas A&M University, Rice University and the University of Houston. Some of the nations premier research facilities are located on these campuses.
