Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant to join our growing Joint Reconstruction/Orthopedic Surgery team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact within an established healthcare organization committed to enhancing orthopedic services in the Midlothian area.

Position Overview:
As an Orthopedic Physician Assistant, you will provide a comprehensive range of orthopedic care to both inpatient and outpatient populations, adhering to state and federal policies and organizational standards. You will work collaboratively with our orthopedic surgeons and the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Call Schedule: 1:4
  • Typical Day: 3 half days per week in the operating room, 2 half days per week in clinic, plus 4 hours of administrative duties per week. Flexible scheduling based on team needs.
  • Average Patients per Day: 10-25
  • Patient Age Range: Adult/Geriatric
  • Patient Base: Referrals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat a variety of musculoskeletal issues, including arthritis, congenital deformities, joint reconstruction, and trauma injuries.
  • Conduct thorough physical exams and develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Provide post-operative care for orthopedic patients, manage sports-related injuries, and handle fractures using splints, braces, or casts.
  • Assist in both invasive and non-invasive procedures to address musculoskeletal problems, including tendon, ligament, and bone repairs.
  • Prescribe medications and supplements to manage pain and enhance joint health.
  • Develop post-surgery care plans and recommend lifestyle modifications for optimal recovery.
  • Monitor patient recovery and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and surgical technicians to ensure smooth department operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with primary care physicians and other referral sources through effective communication and consultation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing documentation for all services rendered.

Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant.
  • Previous experience in orthopedic surgery or joint reconstruction preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
