Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hematology/Oncology team in Temple, Texas.

 

What is Hematology?

 

Hematology is the study of blood and blood disorders. Hematologists and hematopathologists are highly trained healthcare providers who specialize in diagnosing and treating diseases of the blood and its components, including blood cells and bone marrow. Hematology plays a critical role in diagnosing conditions like anemia, infections, hemophilia, blood-clotting disorders, and leukemia. As part of our Hematology/Oncology team, you’ll work with patients managing these interesting conditions, providing comprehensive, compassionate care.

About the Position:  M-F 8-5 (Outpatient)

 

This role is primarily clinic-based, but may involve some in-patient work, providing you with a well-rounded mix of patient interactions. As a key member of our Hem/Onc team, you will work closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care. You'll enjoy autonomy while being supported by a collaborative group dedicated to excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform comprehensive physical exams and gather medical histories for new and existing patients.

- Interpret laboratory results and diagnostic tests to develop personalized treatment plans.

- Prescribe medications and recommend therapies with a focus on safety and effectiveness.

- Provide education and counseling to patients and families about disease processes, treatment options, and health promotion.

- Collaborate with referring physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes within our integrated healthcare system.

- Work in both an outpatient clinic setting and, when needed, provide care in inpatient settings.

 

What You Bring:

- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

- Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privileges, as well as Texas APRN licensure (or eligible), if an APRN.

- Less than 1 year of experience is welcome – new graduates are encouraged to apply!

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

- A passion for hematology and oncology care, with strong critical thinking and communication skills.
