Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health is seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our Float Team. The Float Team CRNA is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality anesthesia and pain care services across various sites within our healthcare system. This role requires proficiency across multiple clinical environments, ensuring consistent and holistic care for patients of all ages undergoing a wide range of procedures. The Float Team CRNA will rotate between locations based on staffing needs, and must be adept at managing diverse anesthesia settings and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently demonstrate Jefferson values while interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Accurately document patient care in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with attending physician anesthesiologists during all phases of care.
  • Communicate patient progress to the surgical/procedural care team.
  • Arrive on time and prepare for assigned cases, ensuring timely case starts.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and rights.
  • Promote safety, quality, and patient satisfaction in all care settings.
  • Participate in morning conferences and departmental initiatives.
  • Precept and educate learners when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by department leadership.

Clinical Competencies:

  • Perform and document pre-anesthesia assessments and evaluations.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related services.
  • Develop and implement anesthesia care plans.
  • Administer anesthesia, manage pain, and monitor patient safety during all phases of care.
  • Perform airway management, including advanced techniques like fiberoptic intubation.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care, including managing ventilation and cardiovascular support.
  • Initiate and manage emergency interventions, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
  • Insert and manage peripheral, arterial, and central venous lines and catheters.
  • Provide acute and chronic pain management.
  • Offer patient and caregiver education.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing (CRNA program) required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification as a CRNA and appropriate licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of CRNA experience preferred, with the ability to manage a wide range of anesthesia cases and settings.
  • Additional Skills: Proficiency with EMR systems, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.
