Job Summary

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in our Child Protection Program to join our team.
 
The Advanced Practitioner is responsible for providing patients with excellence in practice as demonstrated by competent and safe care as mandated by standards set forth by St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children policies/procedures, nursing policies/procedures, JCAHO standards and CRNP scope of practice and standards. The CRNP will provide clinical care to patients seen by the Child Protection Program and will support the departmental physician(s) as assigned by the Section Chief and or Director of Practice Plan Operations and Practice/Program Manager.
 
The CRNP will have a demonstrated interest in evaluating pediatric patients who present with concerns for maltreatment. This person will work independently, be highly organized, demonstrate skills to listen effectively and communicate verbally and in writing and be skilled at providing care based on physical, psychological, developmental and social, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in their service area. This provider will be able to accurately perform age-specific assessments on children from infants through adolescents. The CRNP will be required to work within a multidisciplinary setting and work closely with child welfare agencies.
 
EXPERIENCE/INTEREST
  • Clinical experience/interest in evaluating children who present with concerns for physical/sexual abuse or neglect in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Detailed and thorough clinical documentation skills
  • Experience/interest in acute sexual assault evaluations with evidence collection
  • Works to understand the needs of patients and their families, and assists with care planning and goal setting
  • Assumes responsibility for management of care for assigned patient caseload directly supervised by attending physician
  • Establishing protocols as well as policies and procedures for the program in collaboration with /supervising physician and program staff
  • Devises evidence based treatment plans and communicates plan to investigative agencies and primary care physician
  • Completes all required medical documentation, including photo-documentation, in electronic health record system.
  • Ability to effective communication with non-medical (police, DHS) professionals regarding patient evaluations in a coherent manner
  • Interest in teaching trainees (medical students, residents and fellows) as well as multidisciplinary partners, including law enforcement, child protective services, and mental health providers
  • Regularly participates in multidisciplinary case meetings and peer review
  • May be required to testify in court as it relates to patient evaluations

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Master's Degree

Experience

  • Preferably a minimum of two year’s experience in advance practice nursing role as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Prior work experience suitable for the position is preferred
  • Demonstrated competency/interest in trauma informed care
  • Demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable patient population and communicate compassionately, remain objective and be non-judgmental

Certification and Licensure

  • PA Registered Nurse License
  • PA Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner License
  • Ability to get SANE (SANE ASSAULT NURSE EXAMINER) certified within 12 months of hire, if certification is not already obtained
