Principal Accountabilities
- Service and Clinical Operations:
- Support clinical leadership/mentorship for Advanced Practice Providers.
- New APP orientation, education, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with Director to maintain or exceed expected monthly productivity.
- Monitor workflow and collaborate with APP Director and hospital staff in creating processes to improve and optimize high quality care delivery.
- Implement new clinical policies / procedures with clinical staff.
- Review charts as needed for audits and quality improvement.
- Prioritize resources for APP’s and patient care issues.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote Quality Improvement processes and initiatives to meet quality goals.
- Facilitate and assist in running clinical staff meetings.
- Encourage and promote teamwork.
- Develop and nurture individual team member strengths and abilities.
- Structure planning for unexpected APP clinical absences, manage APP team schedule to ensure adequate coverage and help in disaster schedule planning.)
- Report staff concerns to Director during supervisor meetings.
- Evaluate APP staff clinical performance with Director.
- Leadership Duties:
- Conduct supervision meetings with APP’s regularly.
- Promote productivity, identify strengths, and develop individualized improvement.
- Collaborate with Director regarding clinical physician supervision of APP’s.
- Report APP practice deficiencies/complaints or clinical concerns to Director.
- Review appropriateness of documentation and communication regarding APP’s practice.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring of new APP’s in collaboration with Director.
- Report weekly time and vacation requests, illnesses, or PTO to Director.
- Contribute to the revision and approval of policies, protocols, and clinical guidelines.
- Attend meetings / conferences regarding clinical management or other topics that help promote clinical practice and leadership.
- Participate and lead quality improvement projects.
- Participate in continuing education activities that will enhance management and administrative knowledge and skills and contribute to professional growth and leadership abilities.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
