  • Specialty: General Surgery
  • Subspecialty Interest: Robotic surgery
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-430pm, with time surgeon needs in the OR
  • Call Schedule: no call responsibility with this position
  • Practice Detail: Join a busy general surgery practice in key Advanced Practice Provider position to assist surgeons with cases, inpatient rounding and clinic hours.
  • EMR System: Meditech and Athena
  • Facility: Ascension Saint Mary's Hospital
  • Location: Kankakee, IL

Responsibilities

Ascension Medical Group is looking for a Physician Assistant for our general surgery practice.

 

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension Illinois to provide medical services to patients.

 

Position Highlights:

 

  • PA will practice at one hospital with clinic located coveniently on the hospital campus 
  • The surgeons will mentor the physician assistant and support growth and expansion of existing skills
  • Robotic surgery available with ease of scheduling and block time
  • Ascension Saint Mary Kankakee is a designated Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. 
  • Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
  • Accepts patient referrals from other physicians.
  • Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
  • Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Credentials are verified by local staff credentialing office.
  • Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Credentials are verified by local staff credentialing office.
  • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience preferred.
