PeaceHealth is looking for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our Unified Primary Care Behavioral Health team!
PeaceHealth’s commitment to Behavioral Health is reflected in our state-of-the-art inpatient psychiatric unit, nationally respected research, and community advocacy and leadership. The team is involved in industry leading coordinated care through our transition team that involves integrating community-based resources with our ambulatory facilities in care integration. We are currently transitioning into full coordination in the medical home model and providing telepsychiatry services.
As a result of our progressive programs, our work with first episode schizophrenia coordination and medication has garnered national attention. We are a National Institute of Mental Health participant in this multi-site national study. Our patient-centered approach has a primary goal of helping people recover and promoting a safe and inspired life to the community. Our 35-bed psychiatric unit is the largest in the state of Oregon and provides an integrated inpatient/outpatient model.

Job Summary
Within scope of practice and in alignment with both hospital staff bylaws and PHMGs physician supervision expectations, responsible for advanced level of nursing evaluation, clinical assessment, prescribing and monitoring medications and follow-up care for patient. Responsible for patient and family teaching.
Essential Functions
- Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care.
- Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
- Gives directions to nursing and other staff.
- Prescribes medications and treatments and ongoing medication management. Orders lab and diagnostic tests when appropriate and interprets test results.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals and consultations according to established standards.
- Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or “hands-on training” and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
Lifting
- Audiologist/Psychologist: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Consistently operates computer and other medical equipment. Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.
- Midwife: Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices. Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching kneeling frequently. Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
Environmental Conditions
- Midwife: Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
