High-Risk Obstetric Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania

Main Line Perinatal Associates in Wynnewood, PA is seeking a skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner specializing in high-risk obstetrics to join their dynamic healthcare team full time.  

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical expertise, critical thinking abilities, and a passion for providing comprehensive care to women with complex pregnancies.  As a High-Risk Obstetrics Nurse Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, managing, and coordinating the care of expectant mothers facing medical complications, ensuring optimal outcomes for both mother and baby. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Practices under the standard procedure established for the NP role consistent with Company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of expectant mothers with complex medical histories such as hypertensive disorders, gestational diabetes, intrauterine growth restrictions, etc., including taking detailed medical histories, ordering diagnostic labs and imaging, and prescribing medications within scope of practice. 
  • Collaborate closely with obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for high-risk pregnancies.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being through office visits, fetal monitoring, and ultrasound procedures.
  • Educate expectant mothers and their families about potential risks, treatment options, as well as on preventative care and lifestyle modifications and self-care strategies to promote optimal pregnancy outcomes, and bereavement counseling following pregnancy loss. 
  • Educate expectant mothers and their families on gestational diabetes, including monitoring blood sugars, prescribing medication, and enacting a treatment plan.
  • Provide preconception counseling to families planning pregnancy. 
  • Coordinate care transitions to other healthcare providers as needed. 
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Document patient encounters, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and comprehensively in the EMR. 
  • Stay current with evidence-based practices, guidelines, and advancements in high-risk obstetrics through continuous education and professional development activities. 
  • Other functions/duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in performing and interpreting fetal monitoring, ultrasound examinations, and other specialized diagnostic tests.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong critical thinking abilities and the ability to make timely and effective clinical decisions.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-entered care to women and families facing complex pregnancy-related challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and engage in continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and at satellite locations (6 offices throughout the Main Line area)n

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women’s Health or Family Health.
  • Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing in High-Risk Obstetrics (e.g., National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification in Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN) or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC).
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in obstetrics with a focus on managing high-risk pregnancies.
