WHNP for Established OBGYN Practice in Northern NJ

Women First Health Center is seeking a full-time Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) for their Roseland, NJ office.

Will consider Physician Assistant with OB-GYN background.

* Experience as an advanced practice provider in Women's Health required.

  • 3 provider practice: 2 OB/GYN & 1 PA-C & Growing.
  • 2 locations: West Orange & Roseland, NJ (APP will work in Roseland but may need to cover at West Orange from time to time).
  • No Evenings & No Weekends!

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant performs physical examinations, confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care.

  • Practices under the standard procedure established for the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner role consistent with Company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements.
  • Performs IUD insertions and removals, endometrial Biopsies, Colposcopies, and works with Pessaries (educating and maintenance).  
  • Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
  • Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
  • Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service.
  • Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.
  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
  • Performs other duties associated with the APP role.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active, unrestrictive NJ APN license, CDS registration, and DEA.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an APP in Women's Health highly preferred; experience with IUDs, Nexplanon, Endometrial Biopsies, and Pessaries. Colposcopy certification highly preferred.  
  • Comfortability with being scheduled as solo practitioner in office.
  • Ability to work in West Orange office as needed.
  • Eligible to participate in state programs including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid.
