Responsibilities

Ascension Medical Group Belsay Road practice is looking for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their well-established practice in Burton, Michigan. 

This is a busy, outpatient primary care practice that sees patients of all ages from pediatrics through and including geriatrics. 

Position Highlights:

• There are two experienced Primary Care physicians and one Physician Assistant.
• This is a growing practice that is looking to add a full-time Family Medicine physician and a full-time Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to increase patient access to high-quality health care.
• The practice is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m.- 12 noon and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The practice offers scheduled visits, virtual visits and some walk-in appointments when schedules permit. 
• There is one Practice Manager along with dedicated Medical Assistants and Receptionists. Most of the support staff have been with the practice for a number of years.. 
• On-site ancillaries include EKG, lab services, PT, OT,  and Diagnostic Imaging (CT scan, x-ray and mammography) making it convenient for patients to receive additional care and testing. The EMR is Allscripts and TouchWorks.  
• There are no call responsibilities associated with this position.

Responsibilities:

• Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician.

• Obtain patient history and performs assessment. Order, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures.
• Provide and document direct treatment and management of health conditions.
• Provide counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Perform preventative health assessment, screening, immunizations and care.

• This is a patient centric practice interested in speaking with candidates who work well together in a team environment and prioritize giving excellent care for their patients.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Required Credential(s):

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board Physician Assistants Task Force obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.

• Preferred Credential(s):

• Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Orthopedic Physician Assistant.
• Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Verified by local Credentialing Office.

Education:

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred

Additional Preferences

Qualifications: 

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program 
• Certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner 
• Willingness to be flexible and work well as an integral member of the health care team 
• 1-2 years of recent and relevant experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred 
• The practice is willing to consider and help mentor a new Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
