If it’s possible, you will find it at Atrium Health Levine Children’s, the largest Children’s health system between Atlanta and Washington, DC. We invite Pediatric Advanced Practice Clinicians to discover all that we can do when we bring healing hearts, inquisitive minds, and progressive visionaries together in our Virtual Services Group as part of our Children’s Primary Care Division.
We are seeking three pediatric Advanced Practice Clinicians to join us in launching our new virtual services group, including Virtual Practice Support and Extended Care. Clinicians are expected to live in the greater Charlotte, NC, area, one of the fastest growing areas in the country.
Position Details:
- Virtual Services Group (VSG): Building upon our thriving virtual urgent care and school-based practices in Charlotte and the SE Region, Children’s VSG is a new “practice” where a team of physician and APP virtualists are an extension of each child’s medical home across 4 specific programs.
- Virtual Practice Support (VPS): The virtualist team will be affiliated with 4-6 “brick and mortar” practices, becoming an extension of those clinicians. Providing inbox coverage for clinicians who are out of office, managing refill requests, performing virtual visits and eVisits, and taking care of chronic conditions, the VSG member will “support” their affiliated practice colleagues to truly disconnect when they are not in office, maintaining seamless care to patients and families. This practice is staffed by virtualist Advanced Practice Clinicians, supported by the physician team.
- Locations offered initially: Charlotte Market only.
- Provider Type: Advanced Practice
- Extended Care (EC): Providing shared IN-PERSON after-hours care 7 days a week, the virtualist team will be able to have a mix of both virtual and direct patient care. The Extended Care location will be open from 5-8pm M-F and 8a-4p on Sat and Sun.
- Locations offered: Charlotte Market only.
- Provider Type: Advanced Practice
Staffed by Physicians, additional practices within the VSG include the following:
- Enterprise Virtual Primary Care (VPC): VPC is a mostly virtual practice delivering primary care services (chronic condition management, acute sick visits, medication follow-up, hybrid wellness visits). If the child requires a physical exam (example: hybrid WCVs, abdominal pain, musculoskeletal complaints), the history and preliminary exam can be done virtually, and the child can be seen by the virtualist for the in-person exam in one of our physical locations, or the child can be referred to their local primary care office, a local Urgent Care, or Emergency Department. This program, as well as Virtual Urgent Care services, will be one of two primary responsibilities of a virtualist physician.
- While Virtual Primary Care will be offered across the entire Enterprise, Hybrid Well Child Visits will initially be offered in Charlotte only.
- Enterprise Virtual Urgent Care Visits: The virtualist physician team will be responsible for urgent care video visits across our entire geographic footprint, offering services 24/7/365. Common conditions include upper respiratory infections, rashes, allergies, conjunctivitis, etc.
- Employment is shift-based, with each clinician working 28-36 hours per week on a rotating basis (92hrs over 3 weeks)
- Some overnight shifts for virtual care only are expected. The virtualist will not have daytime responsibilities following an overnight shift.
- While the VSG clinicians are primarily covering the above programs, there will be times when demand is not high. Each virtualist is expected to provide “back-up” to other virtual platforms beyond their primary practice area (for example, a virtualist assigned to VPS/EC for the day who has a free block of time would help support the virtual school-based team if they are in need).
- Patient base is a mix of private, Medicaid, and self-pay patients.
A VSG member is providing a mix of virtual and in-person care, allowing that clinician to maintain physical exam skills, develop new virtual skills, and enjoy the direct interaction with children and families. This structure offers a unique work-life harmony that is unavailable in traditional office and virtual only practices.
