Brief Overview

As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and officer on the U.S. Army healthcare team, you will provide specialized care to Soldiers and their families when they need it most. You will expand your skills in general anesthesia, respiratory care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, fluid therapy and more. If you choose the Army Reserve, you can work in your community and serve when needed. For either path, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, surrounded by dedicated professionals who share your values and a passion for excellence.

Benefits Include

Active Duty (Full-Time)

  • Loan Repayment: Receive $120,000 in student loan repayment in $40,000 annual payments to qualifying federal student loans paid directly to the lending institution through the Active Duty Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (ADHPLRP).
  • Sign-on Bonus: $250,000 signing (accession) bonus plus $15,000 incentive pay annually.
  • Location: Over 40 locations stateside and several more overseas, including Hawaii, Alaska, Italy, Germany, and Korea.
  • Time Off: 30 days paid vacation annually plus over 20 days for federal holidays and "Days of no Scheduled Activities."

Army Reserve (Part-time)

  • Loan Repayment: Receive $60,000 in student loan repayment in $20,000 annual payments to qualifying federal student loans paid directly to the lending institution through the Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP).
  • Insurance: Low cost comprehensive healthcare and dental plans for you and your family.
  • Travel opportunities, to include humanitarian missions.
  • Flexible retirement plan for 20 years of service.

Requirements include

  • Must be a graduate of a nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). 
  • Current unrestricted license to practice nursing in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.
  • U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residence (Reserve only).
