Physician Assistant - Endocrinology

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant specializing in endocrinology to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing and managing endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid diseases, and hormonal imbalances. As a valued member of our practice, you will work collaboratively with our medical team to deliver high-quality care and support to our patients.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with endocrine disorders, including obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic endocrine conditions, including diabetes, thyroid diseases, and hormonal imbalances, under the supervision of a licensed physician.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient's individual needs and preferences.
• Provide patient education on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care for patients.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of California.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Minimum of 1 year experience working in endocrinology or a related field.
• Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Michael K. Lai, MD 

Dr. Lai is a Board Certified Internal Medicine and Endcrinology & Metabolism physician with over 30 years of experience. He obtained his MD from UCLA School of Medicine before his internship and residency at St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach. Dr. Lai  completed his fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Irvine. After working as an endocrinologist in Southern California, Dr. Lai moved to the Central Coast to start his private practice in 1993. In addition to his practice, Dr. Lai is the Medical Director of Diabetes Services at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria and an Adjunct Faculty at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
