Job Summary

At Houston Methodist, the Physician Assistant (PA) functions as an advanced practice practitioner, responsible for maintaining and promoting the health of the patient requiring care, practicing medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician. This position will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical, and preventative care, under the supervision of a physician. The PA position examines, diagnoses and decides treatment for patients, including analyzing and interpreting x-rays and lab results, writing prescriptions, taking patients’ histories, providing surgical assistance, and ordering various forms of therapy. This position may work in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can be performed independently under the license of a physician or as part of a treatment team. The PA position affects direct patient care according to the Board of Physician Assistant Examiners in the State of Texas and Houston Methodist policies and procedures.

Opportunity

Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join their Orthopedic Surgery team at the Houston Methodist Hospital – Baytown location. 

You will be working with Dr. Chia H. WU, an Elbow, Wrist, and Hand Orthopedic Surgeon.  

Dr. Chia H. Wu’s approach to patient care is focused on understanding each patient’s needs and tailoring treatments accordingly. He is committed to collaborative decision-making based on the latest medical research and cutting-edge technology. He aims to help patients regain their pre-injury level of function in order to get the most out of life.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • NCCPA certification

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • One year of clinical experience
  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience preferred

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

  • Licensed and credentialed by the Texas Board of Physician Assistants
  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)
  • Prescriptive authority privileges through the State of Texas
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration within 6 months of hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
