Exciting Opportunity for a NP/PA in Trauma Surgery ICU | Banner - University Medicine Phoenix

Banner - University Medicine Phoenix seeks a dynamic and team-focused Advanced Practice Provider (PA or ACNP) to join our growing Trauma Surgery ICU at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix (BUMCP). BUMCP is the leading accredited and ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center serving the Greater Phoenix communities with exceptional patient care and empathy. Our advanced practice providers are continually learning, adapting, and detail-oriented in co-managing our trauma surgery ICU patients via a respectful and collaborative setting.

The ideal candidate is comfortable being involved in clinical management of patients, performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, interpretation of diagnostic tests, prescription of medications, education, consultation, and research. This position is also open to highly motivated new graduate APPs with prior acute care, trauma, or ICU experience that enjoy a fast-paced academic environment.

The selected provider directly manages trauma surgery intensive care unit patients on weekdays, with potential night coverage and rotating weekends.

 

Work Schedule: Full-Time 3/12-hour shifts | Rotating Weekends | Potential night coverage

Location: Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, 1111 East McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85006

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current ACNP certification or PA certification 
  • First Assist Credentials preferred.
  • Current Board Certification, DEA license, and BLS/ACLS certification are required.
  • TNCC or ATLS certification is preferred.
  • Acquiring procedures/certifications are required within the year of hire (Bronchoscopy, arterial line, central venous line, ultrasound (FAST), chest tube placement, brain death certification) 
  • Experienced preferred with procedure skills, new grads with previous acute care, trauma, or TSICU experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Division meeting attendance, division work to include (practice management guidelines) (4 hours to fill to meet 40-hour requirements. Working with ICU directors, teaching, etc.)

 

Acquisition of procedure expectations:

  • Bronchoscopy
  • Arterial line placement
  • Central venous line placement
  • Dialysis catheter line placement
  • Basic wound care
  • Point of care ultrasound procedures (FAST=focused assessment with sonography for trauma)
  • Brain death certification 
  • Chest tube placement
