Job Description
SSM Health in Maryland Heights, Missouri is seeking a skilled and compassionate Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team. As an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing efficient and high-quality care to patients with acute illnesses and injuries in our urgent care setting. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations, to determine the appropriate course of treatment for urgent care patients.
- Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and injuries, such as upper respiratory infections, minor lacerations, sprains, and fractures.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and electrocardiograms, as needed to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients.
- Prescribe medications, including antibiotics, pain relievers, and other medications, according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Provide patient education and counseling on health maintenance, injury prevention, and treatment plans, including medication instructions and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions between urgent care and other healthcare settings, as needed.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and standards of care to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure patient safety.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of Missouri.
- Certification in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in an urgent care or emergency medicine setting.
- Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to make rapid and accurate decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a commitment to providing patient-centered care.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and communication.
