Certified Nurse Midwife for established practice in central New Jersey

Care First OB/GYN is seeking to incorporate the midwifery model of care to its established OB/GYN practice and is seeking an experienced, full-scope Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).  

Our Practice:

  • Office locations in Edison, Plainsboro, & North Brunswick, NJ 
  • 3 Physicians & Growing!
  • 80/20 Ob/Gyn
  • Approximately 500 group deliveries/year. 
  • Shared Call with another Axia group practice.
    • CNM will have 1, 24-hour call/week and 1, weekend 24-hour call/month.

Affiliated Hospital - Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ

  • Level IV NICU and Regional Perinatal Center

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is responsible for the assessment of selected patients in the designated service. The CNM performs physical examinations, confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, and works hand in hand with other providers in a synergistic and cooperative manner. As a midwife in the care center, their job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Practices under the standard procedure established for the CNM role consistent with Company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements.
  • Conducts age - appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
  • Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient needs and assessment findings.
  • Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service.
  • Reviews medical records for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.
  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
  • On call requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted New Jersey CNM medical license, CDS, & DEA.
  • CNM Board Certification through AMCB.
  • Minimum 2 years full-scope Midwifery experience.
  • Eligible to participate in state programs, including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid.
