Aspirus Health is seeking a Medical Physics Assistant to join our health system.
Based in Wausau, this position adds to a team of four physicists to cover five cancer centers that serve Central Wisconsin. Our team is dedicated to advanced patient care, exemplified through our Varian Tours of Excellence designation and our position as the top enrolling community oncology program in the nation for NRG clinical trials. The role will primarily support the Wausau main campus with occasional travel to a satellite center.
OPPORTUNITY:
- Work under the supervision of the Clinical Medical Physicist and Chief Medical Physicist.
- Collaborate with a highly skilled team of physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and radiation oncologists.
- Ensure that measurement equipment is calibrated according to manufacturer recommendations and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of all quality assurance and calibration results.
- Review service activities (e.g., software updates) that may impact dose or image quality and determines if further medical physics follow-up is required.
- Involved with the delivery of special radiotherapy procedures.
- Perform continuous quality assurance tasks on equipment used for external beam therapy, brachytherapy, simulation, image guidance, treatment planning, radiation measurement, including associated computer systems, algorithms, data, and output.
Education
- Bachelor’s or higher college degree physics, medical physics, radiological physics, or equivalent disciplines from an accredited college or university; and/or
- Certification in a related specialty such as radiation therapy, radiology, nuclear medicine, or health physics.
