OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led 550+ provider multispecialty group seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join their employed, 3 Neonatologist and 6 NNP team in the Treasure Valley across three hospitals.

Our 32-bed, Level III NICU in Boise, ID provides a high level of care for 250+ infants annually, offering conventional ventilation, iNO, HFOV, and jet ventilation for very early preterm, late preterm and term infants. The NICU serves families from Boise and the surrounding areas in Idaho and eastern Oregon to allow expert neonatal care close to home. The Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center delivers 1,200+ infants a year and is staffed by a highly certified L&D nursing staff, OB Hospitalist service, and onsite 24-hour anesthesia (CRNA) coverage. Our safety-oriented team of OB/GYNs collaborate with on-campus Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, Neonatologists, and genetic counselors to serve the region's diverse patient population.

Our 6-bed, Level II NICU in Nampa, ID (15 miles west of Boise) is clinically integrated with the Birkeland Maternity Center with an annual delivery rate of 1000+ babies and is the only NICU in Canyon County. The NICU currently provides a high level of care for newborns >34wks and 1500g.

Our 10-bed LDRP Unit with a 2-bed newborn nursery in Ontario, OR (60 miles west of Boise) is clinically integrated with the Obstetrical Unit and accommodates an annual delivery rate of 500+ babies. It is the only facility in Malheur, Payette, Fruitland, Adams, and Washington Counties providing care by OBGYNs providers for infants >36wks CGA.

Staffing model/schedule:

  • Newborn (Ontario): 1.0 FTE for 10 shifts a month; or variable based on need, minimum 7 shifts/month of 24hr on-call NNP coverage and well newborn, with additional shifts available in Boise, Nampa, Ontario units to comprise 1.0 FTE as desired.

Responsibilities at the Ontario, OR nursery include: 

  • Attend high-risk deliveries, c-sections, and facilitate well newborn admissions
  • Manage Level 1 nursery well newborn patients with tele-support available from the on-call attending Neonatologist for the Boise and Nampa units
  • Participate in daily rounds with the newborn support team in post-partum by providing active management strategies that may include nutritional adjustments, lab, and radiology review, and updating families

Ideal candidate:

  • Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner Program with current RN and APRN licensure; current national board certification as NNP desired
  • Current DEA and controlled substance
  • Oregon medical licensure and granting of privileges at SAMC – Ontario
  • Commitment to:

Ontario, located in Oregon’s only county inside the Mountain time zone, and in Malheur County Oregon, has a 2023 population of 11,650.
