Outpatient Cardiology - Heart Failure Clinic

JOB SUMMARY:
Work as part of a cardiovascular team to improve outpatient access for heart failure patients in a busy academic practice.  In this role as a Heart Failure, ambulatory APP, you will work alongside attending cardiologists, with other cardiology APPs, and with the support of cardiology nurses and staff to take care of Heart Failure patients.  This role will focus on Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant and have opportunities to participate in educational and scholarly activities that elevate an academic clinical environment.  Though APPs in this role will collaborate with and share all patients with attending physicians, significant autonomy is both encouraged and fostered, as our cardiology APPs will learn to manage acute and chronic conditions with increasing independent expertise.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Able to review and interpret cardiac imaging reports, explain abnormal findings to patients, and work with supervising attendings to generate next diagnostic and therapeutic steps.
  2. Manage and respond to incoming outpatient patient digital communications and phone calls.
  3. Collaborate and communicate professionally with referring providers and cardiology care team.
  4. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from an accredited NP/PA Program
  • Licensed, or eligible for license, by the NC Board of Nursing or NC Medical Board of Examiners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Current American Heart Assoc. BLS and ACLS certification preferred
  • No required APP post-graduate experience but clinical experience--especially within the cardiovascular field and Heart Failure--preferred.
