Mission or Goal of Unit
The mission of the Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC) is to improve the mental health of children and families through clinical care, research, education and public awareness.
Chief Purpose of this position
This position is clinical and provides access to treatment for children and families with mental health needs. This position also has teaching & scholarly expectations.
Position Responsibilities
Teaching: Teaching and supervision of trainees from psychology, social work psychiatry and medicine.
Scholarship: Reasonable scholarly activities, such as program evaluation, research, publications, presentations at national meetings and participation in appropriate academic organizations, are expected.
Service: Serve on SOM committees, committees within VTCC to enhance and promote the service needs and policy making functions of the university and hospital
Clinical: Provide diagnostic assessments and psychotherapy to children, adolescents and families with inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical work includes individual, family and group therapy experience and clinical specialties (e.g., evidence-based practices, substance use, developmental disabilities/autism spectrum). Will be expected to develop those services within the VTCC. Will provide triaging function for clinical cases to appropriate clinicians.
Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.): Responsible for administrative duties relevant to specialty clinics as needed.
Required Qualifications
• Virginia Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a employee in VCU Department of Psychiatry
Preferred Qualifications
• Research, program evaluation or publications.
• Experience as a clinical supervisor or teacher.
• Clinical training and experience in specialty areas (e.g., CBT, Trauma Based Care, Substance Use, Autism Spectrum, Intellectual Disabilities).
