CT Surgery Medical Advanced Practice Provider – Four - 10 Hour Shifts – Sarasota, Florida

First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System has an excellent opportunity for a Certified Physician Assistant or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) to join a busy and successful Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery group.  Sarasota is located approximately 60 minutes south of Tampa.  The area is known for the arts, great restaurants, world-class beaches, excellent schools, and a wide variety of activities for all ages.

Position Highlights:

  • Join an inpatient team that is expanding from four to seven APPs. This team is part of a larger practice consisting of six surgeons, seven surgical APPs, and three outpatient APPs.
  • No On-Call requirement.
  • APPs are scheduled 8 shifts per 2 week pay period.
  • We strive for work/life balance with three days off per week.   
  • APP will be responsible for providing expert comprehensive health assessment, evaluation, planning, and administration of quality patient care under the direction of our physicians within the Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Department.
  • APP will practice in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon(s) during the perioperative phases of the patient care experience.
  • This is a NON-SURGICAL position.
  • Daily tasks include rounding (independently and with surgeons), writing progress notes, managing consults, entering orders, and handling admissions and discharges.
  • Shifts rotate between the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), Step-down unit, and Outlier coverage, providing variety and opportunities for professional growth and team coverage.

Requirements:

  • PA-C or AGACNP
  • APP will ideally have experience caring for the perioperative Cardiac and Thoracic surgical patient, and CVICU experience.
  • Current NCCPA Certification for PAs or ANCC certification for APRNs.
  • Active or be eligible for licensure by the State of Florida (Department of Health/Nursing, Medical Quality Assurance section).
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Case/Procedure Logs for credentialing.
