Your Role as an APP Manager

As an Urgent Care APP Manager, you’ll wear two important hats — clinician and leader. In this hybrid role, you’ll have protected time carved out for leadership responsibilities while continuing to practice clinically within urgent care settings.

You'll work in a collaborative triad leadership model alongside the Urgent Care Medical Director and Operational Leader to support APPs across your region. Your focus: drive quality, performance, professional growth, and operational excellence.

Your Leadership Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead and support a team of APPs across multiple urgent care locations by:
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing APPs to their fullest potential
  • Leading onboarding, orientation, and training for new hires
  • Driving APP utilization and process improvement strategies
  • Overseeing peer review, credentialing, and regulatory compliance
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on APP scope and legislation
  • Addressing clinical concerns and guiding performance improvement plans
  • Supporting professional growth and ongoing education
  • Acting as the key communication bridge between APPs and leadership
  • Conducting stay and exit interviews to foster long-term team satisfaction

Meetings & Engagement

As a leader in this role, you’ll stay connected and engaged through:

  • Urgent Care Council & APP Council (Monthly)
  • Provider Huddles & Pod Dinners (3–4/year minimum)
  • APP Leadership Retreats (Twice/year)
  • Region-specific and triad leadership meetings (Cadence TBD)
  • Quarterly rounding with each APP + bi-monthly site visits
  • Participation on BSWMG and HTPN committees as needed
  • EML Program Completion (Leadership training program)

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Licensed and credentialed APP with clinical experience in urgent or emergency care
  • Deep understanding of Texas and federal APP regulations
  • Experience mentoring or managing APPs preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, credentialing, and compliance standards
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to lead with empathy and clarity
  • Tech-savvy: proficient with EHR systems, Microsoft Office, and healthcare databases
  • A natural problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and ready to lead by example
