University of Maryland Urgent Care is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality, patient, family and community centered care. We strive to transform the way we deliver health care to bring convenience and value to every patient in the communities we serve.
This is a full-time urgent care provider position that spans two regions, with the majority of shifts (over two-thirds) located at our Kent Island clinic in Chester, MD, and the remaining shifts (less than one-third) at our Anne Arundel County locations in Glen Burnie and Pasadena, MD.
UM Urgent Care providers are clinical leaders within our centers, delivering high-quality care, fostering exceptional patient experiences, and working collaboratively with a dedicated team of medical assistants and radiologic technologists. We treat patients ages one and up, addressing a wide range of conditions—from upper respiratory infections, sprains, and lacerations requiring sutures to occupational health visits, preoperative exams, and work-related injuries.
Full-time providers work 12-hour shifts (8 a.m. – 8 p.m.), typically 3 to 4 shifts per week, totaling approximately 12–14 shifts per month. Urgent care offers a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a broad spectrum of acute illness and injury presentations.
Candidates must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in good standing in the state of Maryland (or have licensure pending approval). An active NPI number, DEA, and CDS registration are required, or the candidate must be in the process of obtaining them.
Preferred candidates will have prior clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, intensive care, or primary care settings—whether as a provider, nurse, or technician.
We are seeking individuals who bring a proactive, growth-oriented mindset and a genuine passion for delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, enthusiastic about the field of urgent care, and receptive to feedback as part of continuous professional development.
At the start of employment, we provide side-by-side clinical training shifts to ensure new providers develop the hands-on procedural skills, core clinical knowledge, and EHR proficiency needed for success. Ongoing support is available at all times, with APP and physician leadership accessible by phone during all operating hours, ensuring providers are never without guidance when needed.
