About this role:

This Advanced Practice Provider will join Intermountain Pediatric Imaging (IPI), the premier pediatric imaging group in the Intermountain West. We are a specialized group of pediatric radiologists employed by Intermountain Health, with close affiliation with the University of Utah Hospital. We provide exclusive imaging and interventional services for Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, the largest tertiary care hospital in the region, Primary Children’s Miller Campus newly opened in Lehi in 2024, as well as two dedicated pediatric outpatient imaging facilities.
 

The APP will have a full time schedule, generally Monday – Friday daytime hours, splitting time between our Salt Lake & Lehi hospitals.
 

The APP will work collaboratively with pediatric radiologists and independently at the top of their scope of licensure. Essential responsibilities will include:

  • Attaining proficiency in the full array of fluoroscopy procedures performed on pediatric patients.
  • Assuming the role as the patient-facing provider during imaging procedures.
  • Communicating the steps of procedures and the intended benefit to the patient and/or guardian.
  • As necessary, modify each imaging procedure according to the age, developmental stage, or individual abilities of the patient.
  • In the interventional radiology suite, assume a clinical and procedural role, assisting with all procedures and developing skills to operate independently for some procedures.
  • Perform consultations for requested procedures and follow-up after procedures have been performed on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Report imaging findings observed during procedures in a radiology report.
  • Attend weekly educational meetings with radiologists to improve skills, maintain competency, and keep abreast of new developments in radiology.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate education to increase the knowledge of patients, patient family, and others. Provides appropriate instruction based on patient needs to support the continuum of care.
  • Train staff in areas of clinical expertise. Provides teaching of students as appropriate to increase their clinical knowledge and ensure safe patient care.
  • Stay abreast of current trends in healthcare practice and participate in continuing medical education to ensure optimal clinical knowledge and effective patient care skill.
  • May participate in research and utilize evidence-based practice to promote quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population.

What you’ll bring:

  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Utah state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Utah state controlled substance license
  • Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Prior radiology APP experience is highly preferred.
