ResponsibilitiesJob Summary:
This job is responsible for directing and coordinating members of the care team, focusing on the provision of individualized quality patient care consistent with organizational standards. Develops the patient plan of care in partnership with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and patient/family. A qualified anesthesia provider involved in the administration of anesthesia and related services as delineated by state licensing guidelines, hospital rules and regulations, and supervisory physician.
Essential Functions:
- Manages and coordinates the care of patients in a defined care delivery model, utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Supervises and/or provides all nursing care provided to an assigned patient population. Any delegated care is based on the abilities and limitations of care personnel and patient acuity. Continually monitors the performance of the team members reporting to the RN and adjusts the delivery of care or clinical technique appropriate to the patient
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team
- Accountable for patient/family education in collaboration with interdisciplinary care team and patient/family
- Documents nursing care and patient status in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care.
- Provides a safe environment and promotes quality patient care through adherence to established standards
- Identifies opportunities for and participates in performance improvement activities
- Demonstrates competent professional practice, and engages in opportunities for professional growth
- Contributes to the productivity and professional environment of the department.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Performs pre-operative assessment of patient by obtaining medical and surgical history, reviews patient's chart and lab data to classify patient according to ASA classifications.
- Adequately prepares patient in holding area according to their history an anesthesia needs.
- Evaluates patient's cardiopulmonary status and airway to assure adequate airway management.
- Interprets arterial blood gasses, pulmonary function studies and any parameters necessary to evaluate adequacy of ventilation.
- Keeps complete record of the anesthesia administered as to the patient's physical condition before, during and after anesthesia.
- Delivers patient into post- anesthesia care unit, relays information to personnel pertinent to immediate condition and care.
- Records vital signs and condition of patient at this time on the anesthesia record
- Participates in the development and implementation of the unit- based quality assessment and improvement plan.
- Other duties as assigned by management

QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Required Licensure and/or Certification:
- Current Oregon RN license
- Current AHA BLS Certification
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
- One (1) year experience within the last three (3) years in an acute care setting
Pay Range$50.00-$250.00/hour
