Hartford HealthCare, the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, has a new growth opportunity for an Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, to join our cohesive team to provide value-based care to patients in practice-based settings in Hartford Healthcare’s Fairfield Region.    

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic oncology team in Outpatient setting. The PA will play a critical role in patient care, working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive cancer treatment. This position involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure the highest level of patient care and treatment efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including history-taking and physical examinations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of radiation therapy treatment plans.
  • Monitor and manage patients undergoing radiation therapy, addressing side effects and coordinating supportive care.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment procedures, side effects, and post-treatment care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as necessary.
  • Perform follow-up visits and survivorship care assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Assist in research, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical trials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.

Shift: Between 7:00am-4:00pm. .

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Certification: Current NCCPA certification and state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Experience: Prior experience in oncology or radiation oncology preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Additional Requirements: BLS/ACLS certification, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to patient-centered care.
