The Opportunity
  • 14-month program at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center designed to train PA's in Emergency Medicine utilizing didactic and clinical experience.
  • Hands-on clinical trainingand close supervision provided byNCCPA certified PAs and BE/BCEmergencyPhysicians.
  • Arrowhead Regional Medical Center on-site rotations include Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Anesthesia, and Respiratory Therapy.
  • Off-site rotations include Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center, San Bernardino County Detention Facility, EMS experience, and time spent at a diabetic youth camp.
  • 4 hours weekly of formal didactic training and discussion, as well as board rounds, journal club, morbidity and mortality conferences, and grand round conference.
  • Certification inBasicLifeSupport (BLS) andAdvancedCardiacLifeSupport (ACLS), as well asPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Program was developed in 2009 in response to demand for both a streamlined pathway to professional advancement, and for improved utilization of the PAin the delivery ofhigh qualitycost effective medical care.
  • This is a paid fellowship with benefits and malpractice insurance included.


Required Experience and Competencies
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accreditedPAprogram.
  • Eligible for and/or possess current CA Medical Board Physician Assistant licensure(eligible candidates must be fully licensed by the start of the program).
  • Eligible for and/or possess current DEA licensure(eligible candidates must be fully licensed by the start of the program).
  • Current certification inACLSand BLS.
  • Previous EMS/ED work experience is highly desirable but not required.

  • The Medical Center is also host to a Level II Trauma Center, three Family Health Centers, and the only Burn Center serving San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo, and Mono counties.

St. Francis Medical Center - Lynwood, California
  • 384 licensed beds.
  • 78,000 annual ED volume.
  • Admit rate of 18-20%.
  • Largest and busiest private emergency trauma center in LA county.
  • Key services include: Behavioral Health, Cardiovascular - STEMI Center, Emergency Services / Paramedic Base Station - Primary Stroke Center, Maternity and Neonatal Intensive Care, and a Level 2 Trauma Center.

San Bernardino County Detention Facility - Rancho Cucamonga, California
  • Part of the San Bernardino County Detention Center network.
  • The facility provides medical, dental, and mental health services.
  • Pre-trial inmates make up a majority of the population.
  • Medical care is provided from the time of booking through release and health professionals are on duty 24/7.
  • The facility houses inmates with the greatest medical needs and includes two special medical/mental health housing areas staffed around the clock with medical professionals.
