Job Description

About this role: 

This Advanced Practice Provider will join our nationally ranked pediatric oncology program at Primary Children’s Hospital. This APP will have responsibility for Outpatient Solid Tumor patients as well as clinical responsibilities in the cancer Survivorship clinic.

Within our Solid Tumor clinic we treat children, adolescents, and young adults throughout the Intermountain West—ranging in age from newborn through mid-20s—with pediatric sarcomas, blastomas, and rare tumors. Our Survivorship clinic sees patients with any history of an oncologic diagnosis up the age of 39 years old for ongoing surveillance of side effects related to their prior treatment history.

Outpatient clinical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: the assessment and evaluation of patients, development of care plans, management of prescriptions, management of infusions, coordination of home care needs, patient and family education, communication with consulting services, coordination of patient follow-up, completion of procedures (to include lumbar punctures and bone marrow aspirates and biopsies), and integration with the multi-disciplinary team to meet patient care needs as appropriate. Participation in quality improvement initiatives and department research is also strongly encouraged.

Full time and fully benefits-eligible, the APP will typically be scheduled weekdays during regular clinic hours. While based primarily out of the Salt Lake campus, clinical responsibilities may also extend to the Lehi campus.

What you’ll bring: 

  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Active, unobstructed Utah APRN or PA license and Controlled Substance license, or the ability to obtain prior to starting employment
  • Federal DEA Certificate II-IV
  • BLS Provider certification
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process 
  • Preferred: Prior hematology/oncology and APP experience is highly valued.
