The Department of Surgery Oncology is looking for an APP to support and grow our Surgical Oncology practice specializing in gastrointestinal cancers. The role involves working closely with the Surgical Oncologist in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment to provide top-tier care to cancer patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate autonomy and expert skills in diagnosing and treating health issues within Surgical Oncology.
Role Specifics:
Inpatient:
Round on post-operative patients, manage wound care, pain, and collaborate with consulting physicians
Coordinate discharges, evaluate new consults, and work closely with the attending Surgical Oncologist in daily care plans
Outpatient:
Conduct post-op follow-ups, surveillance, review treatment plans, order therapies, and assist with minor procedures
Obtain focused histories, triage urgent patients, and assist with peri-operative evaluations.
Other Duties
Strong documentation, coordination with nurse navigator, and contributing to the development of enhanced recovery pathways
Act as First Assist in the OR
Participate in tumor board meetings
