Henry Ford Health is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for the Orthopedics division.

  • This position will be Monday through Friday during daytime hours.
  • There is no weekend or call component to the position.
  • There is no operative first assist requirement.
  •  The candidate will have an independent and shared/concurrent clinic 5 days per week at the Detroit K-12 clinic, seeing postoperative patients, fractures, diabetic wounds, resection of toenails, and treatment of plantar warts.
  • The individual will perform inpatient rounding during the morning, complete progress notes, and work with podiatric residents.
  • The ideal candidate would have at least 1 year of experience in orthopedics or podiatry with a focus on diabetic wound care, fracture, or equivalent.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

  • The Specialty/Invasive Physician Assistant (PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • The Specialty/Invasive PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.
  • Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
  • Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
  •  Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
  • Works in any of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. -OR- Certified Nurse Practitioner. Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Must be eligible or have obtained a DEA number for prescriptive authority in Michigan.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: 

  • Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). 
  • Current ACLS/BLS as required.
  • Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
