GYN Oncology Surgical/Clinic/ Inpatient APP:

Job Summary:

The APP will be paired to work with a full-time MD and a part-time MD who will also serve as the supervising physicians. Responsibilities will vary depending on surgical and clinic caseloads of the physicians. The role is a hybrid model consisting of surgical assisting, inpatient rounding, and outpatient clinic on our main campus and satellite locations.

Schedule:

Weekday: Work Hours: 7:00 am -5:30 pm four days per week. The schedule is determined by the needs of the assigned Physician's clinic and surgery schedule.

Weekend: One weekend per month, approximately four hours each day. Compensated.

Holidays: Rotated and shared between four APPs

Novant Health Medical Group is looking for a compassionate, caring Surgical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider to join an established, growing GYN Oncology practice in Winston-Salem, NC. Responsibilities will vary depending on surgical and clinic caseloads of the physicians but will be a hybrid of clinic, inpatient rounding, and surgical assist. Our providers are fully supported with a dedicated, onsite team of experienced nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff as well as a full-service infusion center. We are a robust, innovative practice that continues to grow and continue to expand patient access to cutting edge treatment in cellular therapies and clinical trials. RNFA certification required for NP's.

Our expert clinicians provide the latest treatments or management of Gynecologic Oncology conditions including ovarian, uterine, endometrial, cervical, and other women's cancer. Winston-Salem has 2 minor league baseball teams (The Winston-Salem Dash, The Greensboro Grasshoppers) and a team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, a partner of Major League Baseball, The High Point Rockers. We have college football (Wake Forest), several local wineries, and a large art community (theater, ballet). We are 2 hours north of Charlotte, 2 hours to the east of the North Carolina Mountains, Asheville is less than 2 hours to the Southwest and Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill are about 2 hours to the east where you can catch some good basketball and larger concerts. We are within 4 hours of the North Carolina beaches and less than 3 hours to Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, a popular summer destination. We have an international airport in Greensboro and Charlotte.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's Degree required. Either a graduate of an NCCPA accredited physician assistant program, or NP or post Master's NP program required.
  • Experience: One to three years of experience in Hematology/Oncology preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current PA or NP license in appropriate state required. NCCPA or registry with state nursing board, BLS, DEA registry required.
  • Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and depart-specific skills validation and competency testing; Thorough knowledge of diagnosis, and pharmacology; Thorough skill in physical assessment and management of chronic illness; Communication skills, both verbal and written; general computer knowledge is preferred; ability to work independently, yet in collaboration when necessary. Ability to use problem-solving, decision making, creative and communication skills. Dedicated to patient rehabilitation and self-care.
  • The team member should be a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) interested in joining our Inpatient Malignant Hematology team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients with hematologic malignancies, including patients that are undergoing Transplantation and Cellular Therapy treatment.
  • The team member will need to collaborate closely with additional Malignant hematology providers/APPs and other multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and discharge planning. Additional responsibilities will include autonomous decision-making, patient assessment, diagnosing, identifying changes to current medical issues, acute management of common complications e.g. ICANS, CRS, NF, DIC, TLS etc., advocating for your patients, next day discharge planning and preparation i.e. discharge summary, med recs, making sure clinic appts / lab appts were requested and/or scheduled, and Assisting with RN education as needed.
