Location: Chickasaw Nation Medical Center Emergency Department (Main ER, Urgent Care, and Virtual Visit Clinic).

Supervision:

  • Reports to: Chief of Emergency Medicine.
  • Supervises: None.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Deliver diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care for patients of all ages in various clinical settings.
  • Manage patient care in the main Emergency Department, Fast Track, and Virtual Medicine Clinic, as well as at other health centers (e.g., Ardmore, Durant, Purcell, or Tishomingo) if required.
  • Evaluate and treat acute and minor illnesses and injuries.
  • Adhere to Chickasaw Nation Department of Health Medical Staff Bylaws and Oklahoma licensing requirements.
  • Participate in hospital committees, performance improvement, and continuing medical education.
  • Provide culturally sensitive care to Native American patients.
  • Maintain professionalism and collaborate with other staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Handle administrative responsibilities like attending quarterly medical staff meetings and managing vacation or sick leave requests.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training & Experience:

  • Required: 12 months of sole-provider experience in a high-volume emergency department (ED) with physician backup.
  • Knowledge of cardiac (acute MI management), neurologic (acute CVA management), trauma care, and related procedural skills.

Education:

  1. Nurse Practitioner:
    • Current unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with prescriptive authority.
    • Graduated from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
    • Successfully completed or pending certification from a national certifying body.
  2. Physician Assistant:
    • Hold valid licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant (or temporary authorization).
    • Graduated from an ARC-PA-approved program.
    • Successfully completed the PANCE certification exam.

Licenses:

  • Current unrestricted Oklahoma license (preferred).
  • Current unrestricted DEA.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in emergency department procedural skills.
  • Knowledge of privacy laws (HIPAA, Freedom of Information Act).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic computer and typing skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, rapidly changing environment.

Work Environment:

  • Locations: ED1 (Triage 1–3), ED2 (Triage 4–5), and Virtual Visit Clinic.
  • Exposure to contagious diseases, hostile situations, and emotionally distressed patients.
  • Variable shifts, including day and night.

This role is suited for experienced, adaptable advanced practice providers prepared to work in a dynamic, fast-paced emergency department setting while delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive care.

About the Medical Center

Chickasaw Nation Medical Center is a 72-bed facility which includes robust inpatient and outpatient services to include inpatient medicine and ICU, ED, general and specialty surgery, anesthesia, podiatry, OB-GYN, pediatrics, primary care, psychiatry, behavioral health, specialty outpatient services to include rheumatology, dermatology, cardiology, nephrology, infectious disease, and infusion clinic, endocrinology and specialty diabetes care, pathology, optometry and ophthalmology, inpatient and outpatient pharmacy,  audiology, residency clinic, imaging, pulmonary services and social work.
