Emergency Medicine APP Opportunity in South Carolina

POSITION SUMMARY:

Join a high-performing Emergency Medicine team offering exceptional growth opportunities. Conway Emergency Group and Conway Medical Center are expanding their emergency care services to meet increasing patient demand.

To support this expansion, CMC will launch two new state-of-the-art Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs):

• A 12-bed FSED opening in August 2026.
• An 8-bed FSED at Health Plaza South in Socastee, expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.

This is a unique opportunity for experienced Emergency Medicine APPs to contribute to a community-focused, innovative healthcare environment in one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S.

IMMEDIATE NEED:

• 2 APPs are needed as soon as possible to address current staffing demands.
• Additional APPs will be onboarded in Summer 2026 and beyond as the Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs) open.

SCHEDULE & COVERAGE:

• APPs will work 120 hours per month.
• Main ED: 10-hour shifts, working alongside physician support.
• APPs (main ED) will work 11am-9pm shift
• FSEDs: Coverage as volume requires.
• Daily Staffing: The ED is staffed with 4 physicians and 3 APPs each day.
• Rotations between the main ED and FSEDs are expected, though exclusive FSED coverage may be considered.
• APPs will manage an average of 1.8-2 patients per hour, maintaining high efficiency even during peak volumes. The ED team continuously monitors trends to adjust staffing for optimal coverage.
• Call Schedule: No call responsibilities are required for this position.

FACILITIES & RESOURCES:

• Main ED: 42 beds with dedicated high-acuity, moderate, and less-acute zones.
• FSED #1 (Opening 2026): 12 beds with full lab, X-ray, CT, and ultrasound capabilities.
• FSED #2 (Opening late 2026/early 2027): 8 beds with full lab, X-ray, CT, and ultrasound capabilities—will be attached to our Health Plaza South location in Socastee, which is a multispecialty facility in a growing community.
• Technology: Cerner EMR with Dragon Dictation for efficient charting.
• Specialist Access: The ED operates with a closed ICU supported by intensivists in-house 24/7. Surgicalists are available on-call to assist in the ED as needed.
• CMC is a Chest Pain Center with a dedicated STEMI program and 24/7 interventional cardiology services. Established STEMI alert protocols ensure rapid response to cardiac emergencies.
• Opportunities to mentor residents and medical students during clinical shifts are available for APPs passionate about teaching and education.

LEVEL OF CARE & TRANSFERS:

• Level III Trauma Center
• Over 50,000 annual ER visits
• Low Transfer Rate: ~2% | Admission Rate: ~25%
• Common transfers include cases requiring neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic trauma, transplant care, or pediatric ICU services. Transfers are facilitated through a seamless call-center process with tertiary care facilities.

CANDIDATE PARAMETERS:

• Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Emergency Medicine experience required.

This position is employed through Conway Emergency Group, which provides contracted emergency department services at Conway Medical Center. While the role is based at Conway Medical Center, the candidate will be employed directly by Conway Emergency Group.
