Overview:
We have an amazing opportunity for an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join a team of Pediatricians and PNPs
Responsibilities:
Join a team of Pediatricians and PNPs to provide on-going pediatric medical management for primarily chronic rehabilitation and psychiatric patients with occasional acute/episodic patients. You will work closely with Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team, Psychiatry team and Pulmonologist to coordinate, implement and monitor plan of care. Enjoy a flexible schedule while doing what you love most- helping at risk children.
Flexible work schedule of 15-16 shifts per month, 8-9 am to 4-5 pm with overnight remote call 7 nights per month. Average daily census of 15-20 patients per provider. Ability to work Per Diem extra shifts at other Pediatrix staffed locations throughout the Houston area.
Responsibilities:
Perform physical exams on all patients
Conduct independent and supervised rounding on the unit
Perform relevant patient evaluations and assessments, including monitoring and ordering medications
Order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and radiographic tests, and interprets results
Coordinate, direct and implement the patient's plan of care
Attend all pertinent patient meetings, including weekly master treatment planning meetings, family meetings, placement meeting and insurance meetings.
Provide chronic and episodic care, under the supervision of a physician
Respond to emergency situations
Obtain a comprehensive developmental and physical health history on patients as documented in the patient's medical record within 24 hours of new admission
Prepare patients for successful discharge and re-entry into the community by prescribing appropriate medications, establishing discharge care and documenting discharge summary
Daily bill on patients
Work collaboratively with other members of the health care team, including PMR team, Psychiatry team, dietician, RT, nursing, rehab staff
Consult with patient outside providers, coordinate care and follow-up on medical recommendations
Perform within the scope of practice prescribed by licensure and certification
Qualifications:
- Current APRN national specialty certification
- Minimum of a master s degree
