Key Position Details:

Allina Health is seeking a Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant.

  • 1.0 FTE
  • Inpatient/outpatient role.
  • Position may include weekends and call in the future.
  • Located at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, thyroid fine needle aspiration, arthrography, CT and US-guided biopsies, etc
  • Perform pre- and post-procedural follow-up patient evaluation, draft notes in the medical record
  • Call results of imaging examinations, if needed
  • Administer contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals as prescribed by the radiologist
  • Administer general medications as prescribed by the radiologist in conformance with organizational policy
  • Care of the patient prior to, during and following radiological procedures, wound management, diet intervention, insertion and removal of vascular catheters, management of drainage tubes
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of APP scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree completion of accredited Physician Assistant program.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience post Physician Assistant training strongly preferred. Prefer 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience.


Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • BLS required within 180 Days
  • Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required
  • Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required
