Banner University Medical Group (BUMG) is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated team in providing high-quality care for patients with co-morbid medical conditions in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Based at the Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix (BUMCP) campus, this role focuses on addressing the medical needs of psychiatric inpatients while collaborating with the psychiatric treatment team and other medical specialists as needed.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, skilled in medical management, and committed to delivering excellent care in a multidisciplinary environment. This is a unique opportunity to apply advanced clinical skills in managing complex medical conditions within a psychiatric unit.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide comprehensive medical screening and management for patients with co-morbid medical conditions during their inpatient psychiatric stay.
  • Conduct subsequent visits to assess and manage medical conditions, provide ongoing medical treatments, and educate patients about their care plans.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and other clinicians to coordinate medical management alongside psychiatric care.
  • Facilitate and discuss potential inpatient admissions from a medical perspective.
  • Prescribe medications and ensure appropriate medical documentation.

 

Work schedule: Full Time | Inpatient | Monday – Friday; Follow Ups in AM, PM |

 

Practice details and qualifications include:

 

  • NP Hired will be focused on providing medical care for patients dealing with co-morbid medical issues during their inpatient stay
  • One-year NP experience in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine preferred
  • Current Board Certification and Current Arizona License
  • Inpatient training and experience
  • Current CPR, BLS, and ACLS certifications
  • Current prescribing privileges including a DEA license for controlled substances

 

BUMC-P is a nationally-known academic medical center and the primary teaching facility of the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. BUMC-P’s Inpatient Psychiatry unit has is a 22 beds. As the largest and one of the most comprehensive tertiary care facilities in Arizona, it provides a full complement of subspecialties including cardiac care, transplant services, oncology, high-risk obstetrics, CARF certified stroke, head injury and general inpatient rehabilitation, epilepsy center, Alzheimer’s Institute, and outpatient clinics on campus in primary and specialty care.
