ABOUT SAINT LOUIS

St. Louis is a major city in Missouri along the Mississippi River. Its iconic, 630-ft. Gateway Arch, built in the 1960s, honors the early 19th-century explorations of Lewis and Clark and America's westward expansion in general. Replica paddlewheelers ply the river, offering views of the arch. The Soulard district is home to barbecue restaurants and clubs playing blues music.

Located at the crossroads of America, the St. Louis region has enjoyed influences from numerous races and nationalities. Early immigrants included settlers from Germany, Italy, Ireland and Poland, and today’s population includes new arrivals from Bosnia, Ethiopia, Africa, Asia, Latin America and throughout Europe.

St. Louis is proud to be a melting pot, as people from all over the world have settled in the Gateway City and incorporated a myriad of cultural traditions into the diverse fabric of the region.

From eclectic boutiques and signature cuisine to exciting nightlife and live entertainment, each neighborhood has a unique character and style that adds something special to the regional patchwork of our city.
