Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the resident team to provide comprehensive care to inpatients with brain and spine conditions.
- Manage intensive care, intermediate care, floor-level patients, and handle ER and off-service consultations, including traumas.
- Strong critical thinking skills and efficiency required.
- Demonstrate initiative to address patient and family needs.
- Proficiency in general medicine and comfort managing chronic medical illnesses and postoperative conditions (e.g., arrhythmias, ventilator management).
- Independently evaluate patients, order diagnostic studies, and initiate clinical interventions.
- Strong interpersonal skills for communication within the care team and coordinating with consulting services.
- Perform procedural skills, including drain removal, suturing, and arterial line placement (no operative procedures required).
- Rotating schedule with 3 13-hour shifts per week, including on-call shifts (1 Monday overnight, 1-2 Saturday call shifts/month). All call shifts are in-house. No major holiday coverage required.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- NCCPA certified.
- ACLS certified.
- Active Massachusetts Physician Assistant License.
- DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration.
- 1-2 years of inpatient physician assistant experience preferred.
