Job Description

The Screening Program Director will serve in a dual role leading and directing cancer prevention and screening initiatives across the health system, while also developing and implementing Cancer Center research projects to reduce the burden of cancer for all Hoosiers. The director will build program capacity with the respective health system business unit leaders to ensure effective implementation of systems for cancer prevention programs, while tracking patient utilization through qualitative, outcomes research initiatives.  The director will maintain a role on the Indiana University Melvin & Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Outreach & Engagement Core Team, aligning health system and School of Medicine screening efforts to that of the work of the Cancer Center and our NCI mission.

The Screening Director will reflect the mission, vision, and values of both Indiana University Health and Indiana University School of Medicine and adheres to the organizations’ Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, or a similar field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in cancer screening/prevention/outreach work; includes epidemiology/statistical/analytical work in public health or research of environment or a similar study.
  • Cancer screening, early detection, and risk factor surveillance research experience highly desirable.
  • PhD or Medical Degree optional.  Medical Degree must be a current Indiana medical license, in good standing.
  • Must be knowledgeable about working with an adult population ranging from adolescent to geriatric, including patients with communications barriers, sensory impairment, and physical limitations, including but not limited to developmental, mobility, vision, or hearing impairments
  • Should possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent clinical judgement, and quality assessment skills
  • Experience in assigning and/or supervising the work of others preferred.
