Division Chief of Plastic Surgery

Thomas Jefferson University Health System (TJUH) and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia is seeking a Division Chief of Plastic Surgery at the associate professor or professor rank responsible for oversight of the Plastic Surgery Division, in the Department of Surgery. 

The Individual would oversee integration and alignment of key plastic surgical services that would include; Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery, Facial Plastics, GYN, Urology and Gender Affirmation Surgery. 

The position also offers the opportunity to join a thriving academic, clinical and research department that provides exceptional patient care and innovation throughout the region. 

Job Description:

  • Provides medical administration and supervisory services for effective operation and provision of plastic surgical services throughout the Jefferson Health System.
  • Works with surgical and medical specialists to design an integrated system that will ensure that the provision of surgical services are patient-centered, efficient, cost effective and safe.
  • Partners with executive and nursing leadership to transform the care model, to implement best practices and evidence based care, and to align physicians, physician’s assistants, and nurse practitioners with organizational goals, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a key member of the senior leadership team at TJUH. Reports directly to the Chairman of Surgery.
  • Monitors metrics for patient satisfaction, operational, clinical, and financial performance.
  • Monitors performance against established metrics and institutes actions plans when opportunities for improvement are identified.
  • Active involvement in the education of surgery residents. Participation in teaching, research, and program development.
  • Contributes to and oversees the clinical program strategy conjunction with key service line and clinical/operational leaders. Identifies resource needs (physician, technology, facilities), devises business strategies and leads growth initiatives. Identifies new business opportunities within the region.
  • In partnership with Anesthesia and Perioperative Nursing, develops specific strategies and improvement efforts to achieve organizational goals including adoption of best practices.
  • Participates in long term strategic planning process and 1-year operating plan development for TJUH.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board certified in Plastic Surgery.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient access and patient satisfaction.
  • Candidates must have a record of providing excellent clinical care, possess academic credentials that will qualify for an academic appointment in department of surgery.
  • Demonstrated experience as a clinical educator as well as scholarship experience.
  • The ability to obtain a medical license in the Commonwealth of PA prior to start date
